A Preview of our January Auction – Armour, 20th Century Pottery, Thunderbirds, and More!

Happy new year from Potteries Auctions! We’re kicking off 2022 with our first auction of the year. This two-day online auction will be taking place at 10am on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th January. We are offering in-person viewing for this auction by appointment only on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th January, 9am-3.30pm. Due to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, we are now able to accept a limited number of bidders in person by appointment only. Please bear in mind that for both the safety of our staff and other bidders, it’s now mandatory that you wear a mask on our premises. The sale will also take place online with a video and audio link however, so you can continue to bid safely from the comfort of your home. We’ve got a wonderful range of Royal Doulton wares passing through our saleroom this month, including these large character jugs. Lot 344 (left) is a Capt James Cook character jug with an estimate of £40-£80, while lot 337 is a limited edition Phantom of the Opera character jug with an estimate of £75-£150.
Our first 2022 auction is set to feature a fantastic collection of 20th-century pottery, including Royal Doulton figurines, Beswick ornaments and animals, Moorcroft, Wedgewood, Coalport, Shelley, Royal Worcester and more, as well as a varied selection of furniture and household items.
As always, we have a large selection of wristwatches, pocket watches and jewellery going under the hammer, including rings, necklaces, bangles, brooches, earrings, and costume jewellery, which always prove popular with our buyers, as well as gold and silverware.
We have numerous unreserved tray lots of quality tea, coffee and dinnerware, plus cameras and camera equipment, framed artwork and prints, vintage and collector’s items, sporting items including vintage fishing tackle, rods and accessories, metal wear including a full suit of armour (!), scientific equipment ranging from bottles to display stands, a large collection of LP records from the 60’s onwards, a mixed assembly of DVD’s from various genres, and an abundance of soft toys, teddy bears and pandas.
This month is also your last chance to purchase Thunderbirds memorabilia including soft toys, jigsaws and ephemera! Many Thunderbirds items proved popular at last month’s auction, so be sure to snap up your favourite lots if you can.

There’s a fantastic range of various Thunderbirds lots going under the hammer this month – don’t miss out! This collection of 90’s Thunderbirds comics comes with an estimate of £20-£40.
Lot 1058 is a mixed collection of Thunderbirds items that includes photo albums, jotters, fact file, poster books and calendars that’s set to sell for £10-£20.
Lot 524L is a 9ct gold ornate crucifix and chain with an estimate of £200-£400
Perfect for fishing enthusiasts, lot 316 is a large collection of vintage fly fishing feathers yarns, wires, hooks and accessories. With many branded items noted across 3 large boxes, this lot is set to sell for £150-£300
