Post Your Gold Service – Terms & Conditions
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Potteries Auctions “Post Your Gold” valuation service.
By requesting a free postage pack and sending items to Potteries Auctions, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
Potteries Auctions reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
2. Eligibility
By using this service, you confirm that:
- You are aged 18 years or over.
- You are legally entitled to sell the items submitted.
- The items are not stolen, counterfeit or subject to any ownership dispute.
- You are a resident of the United Kingdom.
3. Items We Accept
We may accept:
- Gold jewellery
- Silver jewellery
- Broken jewellery
- Scrap gold
- Gold sovereigns
- Gold coins
- Silver coins
- Bullion
- Precious metal collections
Acceptance of items does not guarantee that an offer or auction valuation will be made.
4. Items We Do Not Accept
We do not accept:
- Stolen goods
- Counterfeit goods
- Firearms or weapons
- Hazardous materials
- Illegal items
- Perishable items
- Any item prohibited by Royal Mail or other carriers
Potteries Auctions reserves the right to reject any item received.
5. Sending Items
Customers should package items securely using the instructions provided.
We recommend obtaining proof of postage when sending any parcel.
Potteries Auctions is not responsible for items lost or damaged before they are received by us.
6. Valuations
All valuations are provided in good faith based upon our specialist knowledge and prevailing market conditions.
Valuations are opinions only and do not constitute a guaranteed sale price.
We may recommend:
- Sale by auction
- Immediate purchase
- Return of the items
The final decision remains with the customer.
7. Auction Consignment
Where items are accepted for auction:
- Separate Seller’s Terms and Conditions will apply.
- Commission, fees and charges will be disclosed before consignment.
- Auction estimates are indicative only and do not guarantee a sale price.
8. Immediate Purchase Offers
Where an immediate purchase offer is made:
- Offers remain valid for 14 days unless stated otherwise.
- Ownership transfers to Potteries Auctions upon acceptance and payment.
- Payment will normally be made by bank transfer.
9. Auction Advances
At our discretion, eligible consignments may qualify for an advance payment.
Advances are typically up to 75% of the lower auction estimate.
The balance will be paid following completion of the auction and settlement period.
10. Identification & Anti-Money Laundering
Potteries Auctions may request proof of identity, proof of address and source-of-ownership information where required by law or internal compliance procedures.
Failure to provide requested documentation may result in delays or cancellation of the transaction.
11. Stolen, Counterfeit or Suspicious Items
Potteries Auctions operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding stolen, counterfeit or unlawfully obtained property.
We reserve the right to:
- Refuse the transaction.
- Retain items where legally required.
- Notify law enforcement agencies.
- Provide information to relevant authorities.
12. Returned Items
Where items are declined by either party, Potteries Auctions will arrange return of the items to the customer.
Customers should ensure that their contact details are accurate and up to date.
Items remaining unclaimed for more than 90 days may be treated as abandoned.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to applicable law, Potteries Auctions’ liability shall be limited to the amount covered by any agreed insurance arrangements.
Customers should contact us before sending high-value items to discuss additional insurance requirements.
14. Complaints
Any complaints relating to this service should be submitted in writing to:

We aim to respond within 5 working days.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
