Staffordshire Porcelain Facts

  • Staffordshire ware was made from the 17th century onwards in – as the name suggests – Staffordshire.
  • Three types of pottery can be classified as belonging to the group of Staffordshire wares – earthenware, stoneware and porcelain.
  • Staffordshire is particularly associated with porcelain, and was first made in the West at Longton Hall, Stoke-on-Trent, in the 1750s. Before then, it had only been produced in China.
