Highlights from our November 2021 Fine Art Sale

Our three-day Fine Art sale this month took place on Thursday 11th, Friday 12th and Saturday 13th November and featured an exciting array of items, from dinnerware and other household items to a very large assortment of rare British pottery pieces, timepieces and more.

Plenty of lots from our Fine Art auction live from the Silverdale Saleroom sold for a good price, so check out some of the highlights from our most recent auction below. Who knows? Maybe they’ll provide some inspiration if you have a valuation in mind.

A Rolex Oyster Perpetual 116034 Men's wristwatch

Another watch that proved popular at auction this month was this Rolex Oyster Perpetual 116034 Men’s wristwatch. Estimated to sell for £1500-£3000, in the end it went under the hammer for a wonderful £4500.

A pair of rare William III silver candlesticks

This pair of rare William III silver candlesticks sold for a fantastic £6000!

A Britannia fine Gold 4 coin set

Lot 1465 is a Britannia fine Gold 4 coin set, dated 1987, which sold for £2000.

As always, pottery pieces proved very popular at auction this month and we saw a large quantity of rare pottery, including vases, jugs and figurines from famous names such as Beswick, Royal Doulton and Wedgwood, pass through our saleroom and fetch some amazing prices. Check out some of the best performing lots below.

A rare Royal Doulton George Washington loving cup

Lot 267 is a rare Royal Doulton George Washington loving cup, limited edition of 1000, with reportedly only 100 being numbered, which sold for an astonishing £6200.

A Beswick rare Iron Grey shire horse 818

Beswick horses always prove popular at our auctions. Lot 323 is a Beswick rare Iron Grey shire horse 818. A lovely painted example with 6 manufacturing holes to the underside and with no factory marks, this stunning shire sold for an incredible £5700!

A Wedgwood Prestige large Jasperware vase and cover, titled

We were very pleased to have another fantastic selection of Wedgwood going under the hammer this month. This Wedgwood Prestige large vase and cover, titled “The Britannia Vase”, in three-coloured Jasperware sold for an amazing £4100.

A large collection of Royal Albert Old Country Roses items

Lot 860 is a large collection of Royal Albert Old Country Roses items, containing approximately 500 pieces including tureens, tea and coffee sets, platters, fancies, cutlery and more across 17 trays. It ultimately sold for a very respectable £3700!

A rare Royal Doulton Pavlova figure (HN676)

This rare Royal Doulton Pavlova figure (HN676) sold for £3200!

The Swagman Royal Doulton prototype character jug, and a Winston Churchill Royal Doulton prototype character jug

Royal Doulton character jugs always pique our customers interest at our Silverdale saleroom. Both of these jugs were modelled in the late 1990s, but were never put into production. Lot 265 (left) is a The Swagman Royal Doulton prototype character jug and sold for £310, while Lot 266 (right) is a Winston Churchill Royal Doulton prototype character jug that sold for £2900.
