Happy New Year! Our first sale of 2021 is a two-day online auction taking place at 10am on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th January. Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 situation we are unable to offer in-person viewing, so please check out our online catalogue for more information on the available lots. You can also contact us to arrange a video call to view lots you are interested in or to take advantage of our comprehensive email condition report service.
Due to lockdown restrictions, we are currently unable to accept bidders in person. The sale will take place online only with a video and audio link, so you can continue to bid safely from the comfort of your home. Live online bids can be made through The Saleroom and Easylive Auctions, or commission bids can be made through Potteries Auctions. Find out more on how to submit a commissioned bid at auction. Our January sale is set to feature plenty of 20th-century pottery pieces, including Royal Doulton figurines and character jugs, Beswick, Royal Worcester, Moorcroft, Masons, Lladro, Lorna Bailey, Wedgwood, and Royal Crown Derby, as well as furniture and household items to include glassware, artwork, collectables and gold and silverware. As always, we have a large selection of watches and jewellery going under the hammer, including rings, necklaces, bangles, earrings and costume jewellery, which always prove popular with our buyers. We also have over 200 unreserved tray lots of good tea, coffee and dinnerware, ceramics, glassware, bric-a-brac, metal ware, mixed pottery, and collector’s items to include camera equipment and clocks.

We have a large range of Royal Doulton lots going under the hammer this month, including various figures, character jugs and flambe ware. Lot 314 features four Royal Doulton advertising classics figures of the Milky Bar Kid, Father William, the Foxes Polar Bear and the Guinness Toucan. All figures are limited edition with boxes and certificates, with the collection slated to sell for £80-£160.
There’s also a wide array of Moorcroft lots available at our January auction that include vases, coasters and plaques. (L-R) Lot 234 is a Moorcroft Winds of March vase with a £130-£260 estimate. Lot 236 is a limited edition Moorcroft A Clouded Clearing vase, signed by designer Vicky Lovatt, with an estimate of £120-£240. Lot 241 is a Moorcroft Forever England vase with an estimated sale price of £130-£260.
We have a lot of Wedgwood coming through our saleroom this month, including a large selection of Wedgwood Jasperware portrait plaques and medallions. Lot 429 - left - is a collection of Wedgwood Jasperware plaques with an estimated sale price of £300-£600, while lot 434 is Wedgwood dark blue dipped Jasper portrait medallion of Marie Antoinette that’s set to sell for £60-£120 - just one example of all the wonderful medallions we have going under the hammer.
The jewellery section of our auctions never fails to produce some exquisite pieces, and this month’s is no exception. Lot 493 (left) is an 18ct three-stone Diamond ring with an estimate of £100-£200, while Lot 577 – an 18ct gold gemstone set cluster ring – comes with an estimate of £60-£120.
Lot 494B (left) – a Vertex Art Deco 9ct gold gentleman’s wristwatch – is set to sell for £125-£250, while Lot 575 – a 9ct gold ladies watch and 9ct Bentina Star bracelet – comes with an estimated price of £60-£120.
Lot 570 (top) is a yellow-coloured metal Victorian chain and locket with a sale estimate of £120-£240. Lot 571 (bottom) is a large hallmarked 9ct gold locket with 9ct chain and is set to go under the hammer for £200-£400
