Lot 648 - A pair of Bow figures symbolic of Summer and Autumn
Summer as a girl with floral sprigged dress and pink bodice with blue laced front, holding a sheaf of corn under her arm and sickle (now missing), with floral bocage behind, and another wheatsheaf at her feet. He with pink tricorn hat, floral sprigged coat and yellow and white striped breaches and holding a bunch of grapes above a wine glass. He leans against a bocage of fruiting vine and flowers and a basket of fruit at his feet. Each on four moulded, scroll legs tinted in blue, puce and gilt. Each standing 17.75cm high, the reverse of the bases with square holes for candle stick sockets, candlestick's not present. Various losses, mainly on bocage.

He with a black hat, green and puce lined coat, red and gilt spotted breeches and a hound at his feet. She with an orange cap over her right ear, holding aloft a bunch of forget-me-nots. Wearing a pink bodice, gilt ties and a green florette lavender coloured skirt with green apron, a lamb lays by her feet. Standing 18.5cm high with gold anchor marks to rear and pad marks to base.

He in Columbine costume with blue and white striped breeches and pointed hat, his bagpipes under his arm. She with a hurdy gurdy on her knee, in floral white dress with pink overskirt and blue lined pink hat and yellow waistcoat. Both standing on flower encrusted shaped oval bases 12cm and 11.5 cm respectively with some damages.

Described on vendors paperwork as slightly fluted cavettos, with green & gilt overlapping spiral plume moulded and decorated borders. The centres painted with exotic birds, the borders each with 3 sections of insects & moths amid foliage in colours. Measuring 21cm & 21.5cm approx., and having spur marks, gold anchor marks and of the period, one thought to be 1758, the other 1763 (2)

Hand painted and gilded plate depicting exotic birds with deep, richly gilded border. Believed to have been identified by Dr Godden as made in 1858 & decorated in 1859. Bears two artists initials.
