Bidding on an item
You can bid for items at our Auctions in a number of ways:
By attending the Auction in person. You can view the items in the sale the day before and on the morning of the Sale, before the Auction starts. You then register your name and address details with us and receive your bidding number, which you will use during the sale. You can pay and collect any items you successfully bid on when you are ready. We accept cash, Debit Cards and Mastercard, Visa cards and PayPal with 4% admin charges.
Commission Bids. If you are unable to attend the Sale you can leave bids on the Lot numbers you are interested in. You can either view the items yourself prior to leaving bids or request a condition report. If you are unable to view and examine an item for yourself, it is recommended that you request a Condition Report beforehand. See the commissioned bids page for further details.
The Condition Report serves as a form of guarantee as to the condition of an item. If you bid on an item without viewing it and without requesting a Condition Report, you do so at your own risk. One of our trained staff will personally check the items for damage or restoration and let you know before you leave your bids giving you confidence and peace of mind. You can leave bids in person, by telephone, fax or email. Please remember to give your full name, address and contact details.
Live Telephone Bids. It is possible to book a telephone line for specific Lots you are interested in. As with Commission Bids it is recommended that you have either a Condition report or view the items personally prior to the Sale. We call you a couple of minutes before the Lot is auctioned so as you can bid live over the telephone as the Lot is being sold. The number of telephone lines available is limited so you are advised to book as soon as possible.
If you are successful in purchasing you have seven days in which to pay and collect your lots. Should you require your purchases to be posted to you direct please see the information on postage here.
Buyer's Premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot that you purchase. This is currently 20% plus VAT.
