SILVERDALE SALEROOM - March 2019 Rare 20th Century British Pottery & Antique Auction

The next Antique and Fine Art Auction will take place on Saturday 9th March at 10am at the Silverdale saleroom.

Furniture: 

Over 1000 lots will go under the hammer commencing with a section of Antique, Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and quality furniture. Lots include a William VI mahogany pedestal five leaf extending dining table, Victorian large office four door bookcase, Edwardian rosewood marquetry ladies’ cylinder top desk, table and chair sets, small tables, grandfather and mantle clocks, French clock sets and wall clocks.

Paintings & Prints:

Oil paintings and watercolours by Alan King, Edward Masters, Elizabeth Leary and other worthy local Potteries artists Leslie Gilbert and A. Connolly.  

Ceramics, Decorative Tiles, Dinner & Teaware: 

There are over 650 lots of ceramics including rare and sought-after collections of Royal Doulton figures, Bunnykins, stoneware, Flambe, animals, character jugs, Beswick Horses, animals, birds and fish. More than 120 interesting lots of William Moorcroft, Walter Moorcroft plus later pieces and also interesting Wedgwood jasperware.

Other key areas within the ceramics section consist of collections of Wade, Royal Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Crown Devon, Burslem Pottery, Anita Harris Art pottery, Coalport, Reg Johnson Studio Potter, Clarice Cliff and early Islamic pottery. 

Dinner and tea ware lots by Royal Albert, Aynsley, Wedgwood, Minton, Royal Doulton and Minton are in abundance.

Within the tile section of the auction are quality decorative tiles from Minton Hollins plus sets of Minton tiles by John Moyer-Smith also Royal Doulton, Sherwin & Cotton.

Collectables:

There is an eclectic section of collectable items comprising such pieces as an Asprey bronze desk lion desk set, Millefiori and Murano art glass, a collection of walking sticks, vintage violins and Japanese Samurai swords.

Millitaria: 

Amongst the military lots are sets of medals, badges and pistols including an interesting Royal navy officers medal set with sword. 

Silver, Coins, Watches & Jewellery: 

The last section of the auction will consist of antique silver, antique gold, silver coins, vintage books and ephemera. There is a fantastic selection of wristwatches from Rolex, Omega, a Longines Greenlander military watch, Jaeger-Le-Coultre military watch, Longines 1940’s RAF military steel wristwatch, Vintage ladies and gents watches.

Amongst the collection of pocket watches are some gems including 18th and 19th century Verge watches, silver and gold watches and sporting items.

A hundred lots of antique and modern jewellery, diamond set jewellery, Victorian Albert chains, charm bracelets, many rings, brooches, charms and gems, costume jewellery and sovereigns. 

Oriental items featured in this sale include Chinese Jade, silk pictures, Japanese pottery and collectors’ items.
